I was first contacted by Roger Kirkpatrick 3 or 4 (or more) years ago when he'd stumbled on my
web site. He was looking for photos of cabooses. I hadn't taken much notice of them as my focus at the
time was on steam locomotives. My coorespondence with Roger at the time got me to thinking and
looking at cabooses and I started taking photos of them when I encountered them. I finally decided it was time
to get busy and start working with Roger again on trying to pull together an accurate list of
cabooses in Washington.
Please send your updates and corrections to:
I'll pass them along to Roger. If any information is to be kept private, let me know and I won't
post it here.
02/17/07 - Updates for Thorp, Chehalis, and Shelton. New photos for Chelatchie Prairie including a
previously (to me at least) unidentified caboose.
08/13/06 - Added photos for Meeker Southern, Vader, Ballard and Dayton. Thanks to Ed Mertes, Troyce Brooks, Brock Hansen and Richard Wilkens for photos, tips and additional information.
12/30/05 - Added photo of drovers caboose on Elliot Ave in Seattle and an unknown "bobber" caboose in Moses Lake. Confirmed caboose in Yelm and and added notes in a few places.
09/17/05 - Added photos for Cabin Creek, Meeker Southern, Pasco, Yakima (Track 29 Mall), Skykomish,
Simpson Timber in Shelton, and ID'd the Chehalis Western Caboose in Elbe.
06/26/05 - Been working intermittantly on the page for the past 4 months. I had to re-layout the
photos directory which took a lot of editing of the html. Cabooses are now shown for Elbe, Discovery
Bay, Sequim, Randle, Marysville and Sedro-Wooley. I probably missed some others I've added.
02/26/05 - Added photos for Sumner and Tacoma.
02/20/05 - Added photos for S. Cle Elum and SP caboose at Mineral.
02/19/05 - Added photos for Shelton, Snoqualmie, and Tacoma.
02/06/05 - Added photos for Issaquah and Mineral.
02/01/05 - Added photos for Battle Ground, Kent and Moulton Falls.
01/30/05 - Added photos for Cashmere, Carbonado, Black Diamond, Gold Bar, Hyak, Kent, and Wickersham.
