Thrust block

A concrete thrust block has just been poured here to complete installation of a \"T\" that will feed water to the Train Shed fire supression system. What sounds easy on paper is more complicated in the field: installation required the railroad to be shut down for two days while an excavation was dug between the tracks to access the eight inch water main. Couplings were \"welded\" to the HDPE water main and the ductile iron valves were bolted into position. Then a hole was bored under the tracks to accept the new eight inch pipe to supply the Train Shed.
