Loggers sort wood

Modern logging is considerably more efficient than the last logging operation conducted on this site more than 90 years ago. Alder and maple were sold for lumber, good conifers were also sold for lumber, lesser quality timber was sold to make pulp, and everything else that was left over - including stumps and branches - was collected and ground up into hog fuel. It was trucked to Simpson Timber and used as fuel to make steam.
